Francesca Bi – The Art of Travel Woven in Fabric

Francesca Bassi’s passion for textiles began at a very young age. Born into a family of silk artisans, she grew up surrounded by vibrant, soft, and precious fabrics. Her parents crafted exquisite ties and scarves that, by the late 1970s, were already sold around the world.

A true nomad at heart, Federica started traveling early — first to New York and Tokyo to present her family’s creations, and later, in the early 1990s, to India and the East, inspired by the stories of her hippie uncles. From these journeys emerged a creative universe that reflects her passions, curiosities, and free-spirited vision of fashion.

Her collections are composed of garments that do not necessarily match one another, yet are united by a common thread of color and emotion. Each piece allows the freedom to express an individual style. The long embroidered skirts have become iconic; the embroidered kaftans act as light coats in spring and cozy layers in winter; and the patchwork kimonos, all unique pieces, are paired with oversized jacquard scarves featuring needle-punched inserts and tailored details.

Each creation tells the story of a journey — a meeting of craftsmanship, freedom, and femininity, woven into every thread.
